Human Trafficking Training

Join the Michigan Counseling Association for a 1.5 hour workshop on human trafficking.  Together we will: 

• Understand the types and venues of human trafficking in the United States.
• Learn to identify victims of human trafficking in health care settings.
• Learn to identify the warning signs of human trafficking in health care settings for adults and minors. 
• Discuss resources for reporting the suspected victims of human trafficking.

Imani Byrd, MS | Human Trafficking Counselor at Avalon Healing Center

Imani's background is in clinical psychology, and has been working as a mental health professional since 2016 in various inpatient and outpatient settings. Imani has worked with various trauma populations throughout her career, and is trained in evidence-based, trauma-informed treatments such as dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and exposure therapy but is always open to learning about new and alternative methods of treatment. She is proud to be able to directly serve clients who are survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking through her current position, particularly those from underserved, diverse populations.

The MCA is NBCC ACEP Provider No. 2023.

The training meets the MCL 333.16148 Human Trafficking Training requirements put forth by the Licensing and regulatory Affairs Office | Bureau of Professional Licensing and is in alignment with administrative rule 338.1771.
