Counseling Compact

Sunday, December 29, 2024 6:14 PM | Ashley VanBemmelen (Administrator)

On Friday, September 20th 2024, the MCA hosted an informational webinar with the Counseling Compact Commission. The purpose of this was to help counselors across MI learn more about the Compact and what we can do to better organize as professionals in our state.

Historically, the state legislature in MI has been resistant to compacts. The addition of compacts for other healthcare professions has lagged in our state when compared with others across the US. However, the recent movement on the Psychology compact renewed our hope that by partnering with legislators and other mental health organizations, we could introduce and hopefully pass legislation in the near future.

This is the Zoom recording of the meeting if you were unable to join us or would like to review it.

Feel free to share this with anyone in our field who may be interested in learning more and growing in advocacy related to this.

If you are interested in joining us in our advocacy efforts, please complete this form with your contact information. We are compiling a database of counselors in Michigan so we can best organize our efforts and see if we can mobilize counselors and legislators to move forward with counseling compact legislation for the state of Michigan.
